Wallace died on Wednesday, the 18th, at Parkesburg, about 4 p.m. from the prevailing grip. He was born in Highland township on the farm he owned at the time of his death, on September 8, 1803, and was the last of eight children of John and Margaret Parke Wallace, surviving the last member of the family to die by twenty-five years. The children that survive him are Mrs. Martha Jones and Mrs. Levi Smith, of Honeybrook; Isabella and Maris (sic), who faithfully ministered to their father in his declining years, and J.P. Wallace, and four grandchildren residing in Denver, Col. Mr. Wallace was an industrious and prosperous farmer, remaining on his farm until 1881, when on account of increasing infirmities he moved to Parkesburg borough. He was a consistent member of Octoraro Presbyterian Church for 77 years, the oldest member of the church and community, and respected for the purity and integrity of his beautiful child-like life.
