George Washington, a well known colored resident of this place, died at his home, on Sunday, in the 77th year of his age, from kidney and other troubles. The deceased has been a resident of this place for many years and was a quiet, industrious good citizen. He is survived by a widow to mourn his loss. The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War and member of Geo F. Smith Post No. 130, G.A.R. and Peace and Plenty Lodge of Odd Fellows. Daily Local News, September 24, 1919, WASHINGTON- In West Chester, on Sept. 21, 1919, George Washington aged 77 years. Relatives and friends also George F. Smith Post G.A.R.; sons of Veterans and Peace and Plenty Lodge, I.O.O.F., are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, the 26th inst. Services at his late residence, 14 N. New St., at 2 p.m. Interment at Lindley Hill. Friends may cal Thursday evening. Body can be viewed at the cemetery.
