W. F. Ewing, of town, and Rev. John S. Mast of Morgantown, officiated, interment being made in the M.E. Cemetery. Mr. Wert passed away rather suddenly, death being due to dropsy and heart trouble, he being eighty years of age. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in the latter part of the struggle as a member of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane (nee Shineman sic), and these sons and daughters: John, of town, Jacob, of Reading, Nora, wife of George Derr, or Reading, and Lulu, wife of Don Skelton, of Youngstown, Ohio. Eight grandchildren also survive.
