G.Clyde Woodward, of 634 Olive street, was reported missing in action. The word now comes to his wife, Mrs. Arlene F. Woodward, that her husband,27, was officially listed as killed, in the Italian operations. He had been missing since November 2nd. Mrs. Woodward has also received a letter from a soldier who was with Pfc.Woodward, which explained that a group of American soldiers were crossing a river in Italy on their way back from the front, and that Pfc. Woodward fell into the water when he lost his hold on a rope being used in crossing, and was swept down stream. Pfc.Woodward was a member of the firm of Detterline & Woodward, who operated the D&W food market on Lincoln Highway at Pensylvania avenue. He is survived besides his wife, his mother,Mrs. Jennie Woodward, of Compass. His father lost his life at the mills here during World War I in an accident."
