Wyeth is dead at 86 Mrs. Carolyn Wyeth, wife of the late painter and illustrator N.C. Wyeth, died at her Chadds Ford home before dawn today of an apparent heart attack. She would have been 87 next Thursday. She had been in failing health. Her husband, who as killed in a car-train accident at Chadds Ford in 1945, was well known for his book illustrations for “Treasure Island,” “The Last of the Mohicans” and other classics. Mrs. Wyeth is survived by two sons, Andrew Wyeth, nationally known Chadds Ford painter; and Nathaniel Wyeth of Wilmington, Del.; and three daughters, Carolyn, an artist and teacher who lived with her mother in Chadds Ford; Henriette, wife of painter Peter Hurd of Rosewell, N.M., and Ann Wyeth McCoy, wife of artist John McCoy, of Chadds Ford.
