Walter Dowlin, of Uwchlan township, and Miss Sallie P. Bell, of West Whiteland township, were married on Thursday at the home of the bride, the occasion being a very pretty one. The groom is a cousin of Mr. William Dowlin, cashier of the Farmers’ National Bank of this borough. “Daily Local News” January 7, 1888 DOWLIN––BELL A very happy wedding ceremony was performed at high 12 last Thursday, the 5th inst., at the residence of the bride’s father, Mr. John Bell, of Exton, West Whiteland township. The contracting parties were Mr. Walter S. Dowlin, of Uwchlan, and Miss Sallie P. Bell, with Mr. Frank Krauser, Lionville, and Dr. Clifton Dowlin, as groomsmen and Miss Lizzie and Miss Bertha B. Lippincott, of Philadelphia, as bridesmaids. Guests from Philadelphia, Unionville, Malvern, Uwchlan and other points assembled to the number of 60 and over, being for the most part immediate relatives of the contracting parties. The officiating clergyman, Rev. Mr. Rentz, in a manner which did much to relieve the embarrassment incident to the occasion, yet not detracting from the solemnity of the marriage vows, united the happy couple. The occasion will be memorable for its having brought together many relatives and friends whose presence and expressions showed the real interest they felt in the young couple’s future happiness. The flowers were in the right proportion to have them justly appreciated. The numerous presents showed practical wisdom and foresight in their selection, and all followed by a dinner that would not permit one to lose his presence of mind for a moment or the ills of having eaten too much would befall him sure. The groom being a young farmer, takes his bride at once to her new home in Uwchlan on the farm lately owned by Robert Dugan.
