Typed, probably transcribed once before.

Whereas Joseph Pennel of Middletown in the County of Chester & province of 
Pensilvania yeoman & Alice Garratt Daughter of William Garratt of Darby in ye 
County Aforesd haveing declared theire Intentions to takeing Each other as 
husband and wife before Severall mens & womens Meetings of ye people Called 
Quakers.  According to ye Good order used amongst them whose proseedings 
therein after deliberat Consideration being Approved of ye Sd Meetings Now 
these are to Certifie all whom it may concerne that for the full Accomplishing 
of theire Sd Intentions this eight day of ye Second Month one Thousand Seven 
hundred & two they the sd Joseph Pennel And Alice Garratt Appeared at A 
publique & Solemne Assembly of ye AforeSd people at ye Meeting house in Darby 
Aforesaid According to ye Example of ye holy men of God Recorded in the 
Scriptures of truth he the Sd Joseph Pennel Standing up & takeing Alice 
Garratt by ye hand did openly declare as ffolloweth, ffriends in ye pesence of 
ye Lord & Amongst you his people I take this my ffriend Alice Garratt to be my 
wife promising by the Lords Assistance to be a Loving husband till ye Lord 
please by death to Sepperat us And then & there in ye Sd Assembly ye Sd Alice 
Garratt did openly declare as ffolloweth- ffriends in ye pesence of ye Lord & 
in ye Audience of this Assembly I take this my ffriend Joseph Pennel to be my 
husband promising through ye Lords Assistance to be A Loving Wife till ye Lord 
Shall please to Sepperate us by Death - And the Sd Josseph Pennel & Alice 
Garratt as A ffurther Confirmation thereof then & there to these presents Sett 
theire hands; And Wee whose names are hereunto Subscribed being present att ye 
Solemnizing of theire Sd Marraig & Subscription as witnesses there unto have 
alsoe Subscribed our names the day & yeare above written.
