Will, Bk. 6, page 452 In The name of God amen, I Isaac Green of East Caln Township in Chester County & Province of Pennsylvannia being weak in body but of sound & perfect mind and memory, blessed be almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will & Testament in manner & form following /that is to say/ First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Green her riding mare with her saddle & bridle and also the best bed and bedding thereto belonging. Together with one third part of my personal estate after my daughter Hannah's Legacie and all debts being first paid. I do also give and bequeath unto my eldest son Jas. Green the clock with its case & a large brass kettle. I also give and bequeath unto my second son Joseph Green the sum of Ten Pounds to be paid to him by my son James Green out of the lands hereafter divised to him when he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years & one year after my descease. I also give & bequeath unto my youngest son Samuel Green the sum of One Hundred Pounds to be paid to him /or to his use/ by my said son James Green out of the lands herein after devised to him, in manner following /that is to say/ Fifty Pounds part there of when my said son James shall arrive to the age of twenty two years and fifty pounds more the residue there of in twelve months more & one year after my decease. I also give & bequeath unto my Daughter Hannah Green the sum of Forty Pounds to be paid out of my personal estate & also one case of curled maple drawers to her use one year after my decease & unto her when she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years. I do further give & devise unto my said eldest son James Green when he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years, his heirs and assigns all that my vessuage or tenement situate lying & being in East Caln Township afores. c /Commonly known by the name of Green's Tavern / together with sixty acres of land thereto belonging, as the same is set forth in one deed to hold to him his heirs and assigns forever, he paying unto his brothers Joseph Green & Samuel Green /for their use/ the several sums or legacies in manner as above mentioned. I do also further give and devise to my second son Joseph Green, when he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years, all that my other vessuage or tenement where I now live, together with thirty five acres of land thereto belonging as the same is contained in two deeds, to hold to him his Heirs and assigns forever. I do also further give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary, the profits and issues of all my house & lands, tenements & c. During the minority of either son or until the same comes to him or them as before given & divised, in order to enable her to school, cloath & bring up my said children if she should so long continue a widow and no longer, but the same to be rented out if she should sooner marry, for the uses aforesaid of educating & bringing up of my said children. And further it is my will & I do order & direct that if any of my children above mentioned & named should die during their minority or before the time directed for them to receive their shares in such case the same shall be divided in manner following, that is to say the daughter half as much as a son & the sons equal, and further it is my will & I do herby order and direct that all moneys & legacies herein before or hereafter given shall be paid in gold or silver according to the present value & rate of the same. /That is to say/ half johannie's at three pounds each & silver dollars at seven shillings & six pence and that all proceedings & appraisements hereafter to be made concerning my said estate be in gold or silver according to the above value. And as to all goods and chattles of what kind or nature soever, I give and bequeath the same, to my sons & daughter a son to have two shares & the daughter one. And lastly I do hereby appoint my beloved wife Mary and my brother Joseph Green to be executor & executors of this my last will & testament hereby revoking all former will by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this second day of October Ammo Dom 1779.
