The thirty first day of July Will in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty three, I Griffith John of Tredyffrin in the County of Chester yeoman, being aged and weak in body but of sound & perfect memory praised be God, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life do make and put in writing my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say. First I recommend my Soul to Almighty God and by body to the earth to be decently buried according to the disgression of my Executors hereinafter named and as touching the disposall of such worldly estate as the Lord of his mercy hath sent me, my Will is the same shall be distributed as followeth. First all my just depts to be paid and funeral charges. Also I give & bequeath unto my son Samuel the sum of five shillings lawfull money of Pennsylva which together with what he hath already had is to be in full of all demands to any other part of my estate. And I give and bequeath unto my grandson Griffith John, the son of my son William deceased the one hun -dred acres of land, be it more or less that formerly belonged to my brother Henry John deceased to be by him freely enjoyd when he doth obtain the full age of twenty one years, and during his minority my will is that my son Samuel shall make use of the same land provided he is not to clear above forty acres nor to commit any waste on the timber of the other part, and that he is to pay the Quit rent of the same land until my said grand son Griffith doth attain the age aforesaid. To have and to hold the sd one hun- dred acres of land and all the buildings and improvements thereuntobelong -ing unto my said Grandson Griffith John his heirs & assigns fforever, but if my sd grandson Griffith should die before he attain to the age of twenty one years as aforesaid. Then I give the aforesaid one hundred acres of land with its appurtenances to my son Samuel his heirs and assigns fforever. Also I give & bequeath to my son Thomas John that one hundred and seventy six acres of land that I purchased of the Proprietor, To hold to him the said Thomas John his heirs and assigns fforever. He or they paying twenty shillings yearly on twenty seventh day of November unto me or my order for and during the term of my natural life. Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Mar -garet now wife of Evan James the sum of five shillings which with what she hath already had is to be in full of all demands out of any other par of my estate. Also I give and bequeath unto my son John my house land & appurtenances thereunto belonging wherein and whereon I now do live Containing one hundred and fifty acres be it more or less. To hold to him his heirs and assigns fforever. Together with five shillings lawfull money of Pennsylva And all the remainder of my estate of what kind soever and wheresoever to be found after my just debts and legacies aforementioned p 464 is fully paid. I give and bequeath the same to be equally divided be -tween my two sons Samuel & Thomas share and share alike, and I nomin -ate and appoint my sons Samuel and Thomas aforementioned to be sole Ex -ecutors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other Wills by me made, declaring this to be my last Will and Test. Then personally appeared Nathaniel Miles, Enos Miles & James Davis, the witnesses to the within will and on their oaths on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God, did depose and say that they were per -sonally present and did see and hear Griffith John the Testator within named sign, seal, publish pronounce & declare the within writing to be his last Will and Testament, and that at the doing thereof he was of sound mind and memory to the best of their understandings. And also that their names subscribed thereunto as witnesses to the same were of their own proper handwritings respective -ly. Jurat Coram Jo Parker D Regt Be it remembered that on the twenty ninth day of November Anno Domini 1753. The last Will and Testament of Griffith John late of the said County yeoman deceased was proved in due form of law, and Probate and Letters Testamentary were granted unto his sons Samuel and Thomas John sole Exors in the said Will named, being first attested well and truly to admin -ister and bring in an Inventory of the deceased’s estate into the Register Gen -erals Office at Chester on or before the first day of January next ensuing, and rendering a true & just accompt of their admon when legally thereunto required.
