Will of William McColloch, c. 1748 William McColloch's Will written-January 30, 1748/9 proven- March 14, 1748/9 Recorded in Book C, No. 1228 Original copy in Chester County Archives West Chester, Pennsylvania obtained by Ray Beaty, December, 1996 "In the name of God Amen. I William McColloch of the Township of London Britain in the county of Chester being weak in body and of a sound mind and memory and calling to mind my latter end and that it is appointed for men once to die, do make and order my last will and Testament in the manner and form following First I order that all my lawful debts be paid. Second I leave and bequeath to Martha my beloved wife all my houshold goods and moveables, with the priviledge of living on my plantation and enjoying all its profits during her life, and I order her the priviledge of seventy five pounds to be disposed of at her death which I order to be discharged and paid as she shall direct in her last will by Nathaneel McGee or his heirs that shall at her death enjoy my plantation; nor shall any person have any right to molest or disturb her in living on and managing my plantation ccording to her pleasure living in her house. 3ly I Leave and bequeath to Nathaneel McGee my Son in Law to Margret McGee my Daughter the Plantation where I now live to be enjoyd by them and their heirs for her paying the above said legacy of seventy five pounds to my wife and five shillings to my Daughter Isabella in Ireland; and I order also after my wife's death he pay to my granddaughter Mary McColloch the ?? of ten pounds and thet it be from thet time put to interest for her til she comes of Age and likewise five pounds to another grand-daughter now in Ireland the Daughter of William and Isabella McColloch. 4thly I Leave and bequeath to George McCleave all my wearing apparal, my new great coat, and my boots. And lastly I constitute and appoint Francis Ashonchock and George Curry both of the township of New London the coextors of this my last will and testament and Thomas McGee to be my overseer; in witness thereof I have hereto let my had and seal this thirtieth day of January in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and fourty eight, nine. Wilm. McCulloch (signature & seal)" James Thomas and Samuel Snoddy testified March 14, 1748/9 that they were witnesses to the will. James Kennedy and William Love also signed the March 14th proving.
