All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Deanne Fox whatafox@gmail.com May 18, 2009, 6:34 pm Source: Chester County Archives Written: July 29, 1748 In the fear of God Amen, this Twenty Ninth Day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty eight, I , Robert Petterson of the township of Upper Providence in the County of Chester in the province of Pennsylvania the husbandman being very sick and weak in bodey, But of perfect mind, and memorey, thanks be given unto God therefore, Calling unto mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye; Do make and Ordain this my last will and Testament: that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of God that gave it; and for my Bodey I Recommend it to the Earth; to be Buried in a Christian like and Decent manner at the Discretion of my Executor hereafter named; nothing douting but at the general Resurrection, I Shall recieve the same again by the mighty power of God; And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life: I give, Devise and Dispose of the same in the following Manner and form. Imprims I will that all my Debts and Funeral Charges be Defrayed after my Decease by my Executors hereafter Mentioned- Item I give my Son and law Willim McLinon (?) my servent Lad Charles Blakey till he coms to age; Item I give unto my son James Petterson fourteen pounds Ten shillings current Lawfull money Pennsylvania; Item I give my daughter Isabelah (sp?) Petterson Fourteen Pounds ten shillings current Lawfull money of Pennsylvania; Item I give my Daughter Jane fourteen Pounds Ten shillings current Lawfull money of Pennsylvania; Item I give my Daughter Marey Petterson Ninteen Pounds Ten shillings current Lawfull money of Pennsylvania and Five of it is to be alowed for Schooling her; Item I Constitute and Ordain my true and well beloved Friends Mathew Cowden and William Cadwell Sole Executor of this my last will and Testament and to see the true and Just Execution of the same. And I do hereby utterly Disallow Revoke, and Disannull all & every other former testament will Legacie and Executors byy me in any ways before this time named Willed, and Bequeathed Clarifying and Confirming this, and no other to be my last will and testament In Witness where of I have unto let my hand and seal the day and year above first written Signed, Sealed, Published Pronounced and Declared by the said Robert Patterson as his last will and testament } Robert Patterson (very weak signature) in the presents of us William Moor Michael Johnston (signature seems to match the writing of the will) } 30th January 1749 Inventory 1st March Chester January 30th 1748/9 Then Personally appeared Michael Johnston one of the witnesses to the above will William Moore the other witness being absent who on his Oath did Declare that he was present and saw the testator above named Sign Seal Publish Pronounce and Declare the above writing to be his last will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of sound mind and memory to the best of thies Deponents knowledge Jo Parker (I think) transcribed as spelled in copy of original Additional Comments: Parenthesis are mine.
