All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet King JPerdue192@aol.com September 14, 2009, 1:09 am Source: Chester Co., Pa Probate Written: July 28, 1847 I William Perdue of the township of West-C_?_ in the County of Chester and State of Pennsylvania being advanceded in life and sensible that my bodily powers are declining but possessed of a sound disposing mind and memory considering the uncertainity of times do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following; To Wit First, I command my spirit unto God who gave it and my body I desire to be entered in a plain Christian like manner as becometh the occasion and my worldly estate with which I am blessed I desire shall be deposed of and applied in such time and manner as is herein after directed by my Executors herein named. Item - I order and direct that my personal expenses and all other just charges against my estate be timely and fully paid by my executors as soon as sufficient monies shall come in to their hands so to do; and if these shall not be sufficient funds to liquidate the same, without selling a portion of my personal property it is my Will that such parts of it shall be publicly sold as my beloved wife shall not require for keeping house, or conducting the farm; and in case, there is yet found a deficinancy to meet all debts upon my estate, then are my Executors hereby empowered to borrow as much money as will be wanted to discharge all my debts and pay the same without delay they pledging my full estate for the amount to borrow. Item - I give and bequeath unto my wife as aforesaid all my personal property not required or decreed necessary to be sold for the payment of my debts, and all I give devise and bequeath unto her all the income of my Real Estate for and during her natural life and at her death it is my Will and I do order and direct that the farm herein before devised be sold by my Exectors together with whatever personal property before bequeath to her shall be found in her possession at the time of her death and that the proceeds of such sales shall go and be equally divided conveyed my six children namely; Thomas, William, Susan (widow of Joel Halfaulder), Mary wife of Minter Perdue, Caleb and Sarah. Item - It is my Will and I do order as is direct this if my Executor shall agree ordain it a desirable to sell the Farm during the life time of my Widow they may do the same provided the process of the sale thereof be secured to her by bonds and Mortgages on the lands so that no lapse will accure to the heirs of my Estate either prior to or subsequent to the death of said Widow, It must be distinctly understood that in either case whither the farm be disposed of prior to or subsequent to her death the whole proceeds of my Estate real & personal must be divided then and there alike between my six children as before named when time to her shall be no longer. Item - And lastly I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my beloved wife Sarah and my two sons William F. and Caleb H. Perdue to be my Executors of this my last Will and Testament to do and perform all and singular every act or thing herein directed to be performed hereby revoking and renouncing all other Wills made by me. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eight day of the seventh month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven.
