Before 1752, March 25th (Feast of the Annunciation) was the first day of the new year by traditional acceptance of the ecclesiastical calendar. When the Gregorian calendar was adopted double dates were used from January lst until March 25th. In some case, the dates are followed by the Will Book letter and page number.
