McCurdy was born in Charleston township, Chester county, Pa., August 30, 1841. He was educated at Freeland Seminary, Montgomery county, Pa., and at Dickinson College from which latter institution he was graduated in 1862. He then taught school in Luzerne County about two years, when he came to Clearfield and taught in the old Academy for several years. In 1865 he entered the office of J. B. McEnally as a law student. He was admitted to the bar in 1868 and in 1872 entered into partnership with Judge McEnally. Mr. McCurdy died on the 14th of February, 1903.
