Died 9-28-1893 Married to Clark Neff MURRAY A. SHEPHERD son of John Peter and Emily McKee Shepherd Born 8-14-1879 Cherry Tree Died 10-16-1888* Drowned in Spring This a typical private grave site marked with four large cut sand stones at each corner to mark it for eternity. Wouldn't appear large enough to contain 12 grave sites, but as Jane stated no proof. There would just lack 5 graves of the twelve you have listed, also the grave # 4 I have listed the stone was broken and dates were not that legible. As for history, we were told this was the site of the old Calvary Evangelical Church. The Minister now at the new church as well as Mr. & Mrs. Leamer both give us this information. Mrs. Leamer told us of Washie, but didn't complete the story. *Corrections and annotations contributed by William John Shepherd, great-great-great-grandson of Frederick David Shepherd and Elizabeth Breth Shepherd. Update Jun 2010 by William John Shepherd: One of the original surveyors from 1995 commented that the plot doesn't look big enough for 12 graves. I agree. I only know of maybe 9, perhaps 10 graves there, and nobody who died after the 1890s. So, John Peter Shepherd, who died in 1910 is not there nor is Benjamin McKee Shepherd, who died in 1933. That would leave 11 graves, though I am not aware of Mary Elizabeth Shepherd Neff being there, though it is possible. I have been told by a family source, probably the same relative that is mentioned (Martha Shepherd McKee), that the other 10 people listed are probably correct, including the 4 children, and they would not take up that much space, so perhaps there are 11 graves there.
