Orders should be addressed as follows: HARRY A REED, Chairman Year Book Committee, McGEES MILLS, PA. PRINTED BY THE MAHAFFEY TIMES. MAHAFFEY, PA. [3] INTRODUCTION. THIS the second Year Book of the Clearfield County Sabbath School Association is presented with the feeling on the part of the Committee that it is an improvement over its predecessor, though it is by no means perfect. In the matter of statistics it is more complete; in this it testifies to the excellence of the work of our district secretaries. Of course there still are some errors and omissions, a fact that all concerned in the compilation of the record regret, and it is hoped that each succeeding issue of the Annual will show progress in accuracy as well as in comprehensiveness. This exhibits more fully, that its predecessor shows, the results of the plan adopted two years ago by which the county was redistricted and at the same time a larger share of the responsibilities of the work was placed upon the district officers and superintendents. The plan is working admirably and will be even more effective as it becomes better understood and its provisions are accepted by the local or district workers. The difference between the old method and the new is radical. Formerly a member of the county committee, a departmental superintendent, for instance, seeking to promote some interest of his department, would open correspondence with all the Sunday schools of the county, now the county officer desiring the same end writes to the superintendents representing his department in the various districts of the county and these local workers press the matter upon the Sunday schools at much shorter range and far more effectively. Formerly the executive force of the district organiza- [4] The Sunday School Year Book tion consisted usually of four persons, the officers, now the addition of eight departmental superintendents makes it a board of broad and splendid possibilities. And it can truly be said that opportunities for work are ample for all the zeal and energies the enlarged working force can command. In this connection the hope may be expressed that the officers in every one of the seventeen districts in the county will strive to reach Front Line position before next year's county convention meets. The standard is given elsewhere in this book. Attainment to that honorable position will mean more than mere distinction, it will mean more Front Line Sunday schools, far better departmental work and broadened influence and usefulness of the Sunday schools in every direction. The publication committee heartily appreciates the help of the many who in a multitude of ways have aided not only in making the facts recorded in the Year Book, but in making the book itself possible. The committee believes that next year's book will record still better things and ardently hopes and prays especially that the numbers under the heading "Joined the Church or Confirmed" will be greatly enlarged. For this purpose our Association exists. THE COMMITTEE. [29] The Sunday School Year Book District No. 1, Comprising Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township.
