The Petition of Edward Greenaway, a native of England, and now residing in the county of Clearfield and State of Pennsylvania, respectfully showeth: That your petitioner arrived in the United States of America, to wit, at the port of New York, in the State of New York, on the 10th day of May, A. D. 1870, and that in pursuance of an Act of Congress entitled "An Act to establish a uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the Acts heretofore passed on that subject," made a declaration of his intentions to become a citizen of the United States conformably to the said Act, before the Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas of Huntingdon county, in the State of Pennsylvania on the 23rd day of September, A. D. 1873, and that he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for five years last past, and for one year last past within the State of Pennsylvania; that he has never borne any hereditary title, or been of any of the orders of nobility in the kingdom from which he came or elsewhere. He therefore prays that he may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States; and he will ever pray, &c. Edward his X mark Greenaway Clearfield County, SS: Thomas Richards & William Hill, citizens of the United States, being duly sworn according to law, do depose and say that we are well acquainted with Edward Greenaway, the above named petitioner, and to the best of our knowledge and belief, he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for five years last past, and for one year last past within the State of Pennsylvania; that during the same period he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. Witnesses: Thomas Richards William Hill Sworn and subscribed in open Court this 27th day of Sept., A. D. 1880 A. M. Bloom Dep. Prothonotary Clearfield County, SS: I, Edward Greenaway, the above named petitioner, do, upon my solemn oath, declare that the contents of my petition are true; that I will support the Constitution of the United States; and that I do absolutely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the Queen of Great Britain., of whom I was a subject.
