The Petition of Wm. Harvey Richardson, a native of England, and now residing in the county of Clearfield and State of Pennsylvania, respectfully showeth: That your petitioner arrived in the United States of America, to wit, at the port of New York, in the State of N. Y., on the 9 day of March, A. D. 1879, and at the time of his arrival he was under eighteen years of age, and that he has continued to reside in the United States since his arrival, and that for three years previous to his arrival at full age, it was, and is still, his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States, and of renouncing forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate or Sovereignty, and particular to the Queen of Great Britain, and that in pursuance of an Act of Congress entitled "An Act to establish a uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the Acts heretofore passed on that subject," made a declaration of his intention to become a citizen of the United States conformably to the said Act, before the Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas of Clearfield county, in the State of Penna. On the 15th day of Sept., A. D. 1896, and that he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for five years last past, and for one year last past within the State of Pennsylvania; that he has never borne any hereditary title, or been of any of the orders of nobility in the kingdom from which he came or elsewhere. He therefore prays that he may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States; and he will ever pray, &c. Wm. Harvey Richardson Petitioner Clearfield County, SS: John Greenaway and George Granville, citizens of the United States, being duly sworn according to law, do depose and say that we are well acquainted with Wm. Harvey Richardson, the above named petitioner, and to the best of our knowledge and belief, he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for five years last past, and for one year last past within the State of Pennsylvania; that during the same period he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. Witnesses: George Granville John Greenaway Sworn and subscribed in open Court this 15th day of Sept., A. D. 1896 D. J. Gingery Prothonotary Clearfield County, SS: I, Wm. Harvey Richardson, the above named petitioner, do, upon my solemn oath, declare that the contents of my petition are true; that I will support the Constitution of the United States; and that I do absolutely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the Queen of Great Britain., of whom I was a subject.
