Schrot Penn Township EIGHTH GRADE EXAMINATIONS WILL BE HELD April 28th to May 7th, 1934 1. Each and every teacher ha ving pupils eligible to said examination shall submit their name, to the office of the County Superintendent in Clearfield, on or before April 1st, 1934, in order that questionnaires be sent and the examinations scheduled. The teachers are under obligations to submit the names of all regular eighth grade pupils who have fully complied with the entrance requirements as set forth in the following paragraph, whether such pupil intends to take the examination or not; but those not desiring to take the examination should he so designated. The questionnaires must be carefully filled in by the teacher and returned to the office of the County Superintendent on or before the day of the examination. No examinations will be scheduled in a district in which we do not receive word that there are pupils in sat d district desiring to take the examination. 2. Teachers will please inform their pupils that in order to become eligible to this examination, each pupil must have completed the County Reading Course as outlined in this annual, or a course similiar to it, have done at least one year's work in the seventh grade and one in the eighth grade, and have done, at least, 75(A work for their teachers during the present term. 3. Teachers having pupils to enter this .examination. will be notified of the time and place of the examination sometime during the month of April, 1t134. No diplomas will be granted to pupils under fifteen years of age, unless after passing the examination such pupils should enter and do one year of successful work in an accredited high school. 4. It should be remembered that this examination will include all eighth grade pupils who wish to attend high school outside of the district in which n It pupils live and who expect the home district to pay their tuition in such high school. The pupil may clumsy all books from the above lists. If they do not, they may, with the assistance of the teacher, select other books of similar character. 5. It is not necessary that all of these books be read during the one school year, but a pupil may submit the names of hooks that have been read in previous years. 6. Pupils shall not submit reports on more than two books from any author. Breadth of reading is desirable. 7. If the books are chosen from the above list or are books of a similar character, the pupils will be required to write four brief statements about each book: First, the name of the author; second, the chief character or characters; and third and fourth, two important facts learned front reading each book. These facts shall be written in the schoolroom under the supervision of the teacher, without any aid or memoranda, and shall be sent to the office of the County Superintendent.
