The banner camp to report last evening was the Blue Ball camp on the DeBeck Road. These hunters succeeded in downing three bucks. MOOSE CREEK CLUB MAKES RECORD BAG The Moose Creek Rod and Gun Club otherwise known as the "Schrote Camp" claim the deer slaying record for the season of 1921. This camp is made up of Hyde City and Clearfield hunters and have their camp located along the DeBeck road on the left hand branch of Moose Creek about six miles from Clearfield. They were in the woods at daybreak Thursday morning and by 3 o'clock in the afternoon had hung up five bucks. They considered that a day's work and spent the remainder of the day and evening at the camp clelbrating with pure spring water for a chaser. Their jollification interfered not with their early rising or "battin eye" for daylight this morning again found the gang in pursuit of the luckless sixth buck. Within an hour after the start of the chase, Ray Klinger's "rusty rifle" barked and the season's limit for that camp went down for the count. Their bag consists of one eight point, two six point and three spike bucks. The lucky huntrs making the kill are Roy Leasure, E.R. Dunlap, Frank Schrote, Myers Mumma, Clyde Knepp and Ray Klinger. The limit was bagged in just eleven hours of actual hunting. Red Fullerton of Hyde holding the watch on his crew. TUESDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 13, 1921 HYDE CITY The mines known as the Bucket Line, will remain closed for a few days during the deer season to allow their men to join in the hunt for big game. The Hoover-Schnarrs Garage which has added much to the appearance of our town is now open. The members of the Schrote Deer Camp have returned bringing with them six good sized deer, the limit allowed their camp. The deer were hung in the rear of Schrote's store where in spite of the heavy rain quite a crowd gathered to look them over. Mrs. Curtis Boal and small son, of Indiana, PA, are the welcome guests of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gearhart. Additional Comments: See picture under PHOTOS of camp. Camp was sold in 1963. Joseph Schrote owned a grocery store just outside the Nickle Plant for many years and my father and his four brothers all belonged to the camp.
