Suffering from injuries received on Monday evening when the automobile in which he was riding crashed into the eastern end of the bridge across Tipton run near the Altoona speedway, Howard Wriglesworth, aged 43, of Grampian, died at the Altoona hospital at 6:30 o'clock this morning. Death is due to a fracture of several vertebra of the spine and internal injuries. His condition was serious since being admitted to the hospital early Monday night. His wife was at the bedside for two days. Wriglesworth, an automobile dealer of Grampian, was injured while riding in a Chrysler machine which contained Robert L. Derrick of Clearfield and Burton Peters of Woodland, both being automobile agents in Clearfield county. The trio were enroute to this city to attend a dinner for dealers held Monday at the Penn-Alto. As the car made the turn to enter the Tipton bridge the rear wheels skidded the car, striking against the side of the bridge, turning over, all three occupants being injured. Peters was believed the most seriously injured and he was taken immediately to Altoona hospital. Wriglesworth went to a local hotel and was admitted to the hospital later from the hotel. Derrick also went to a local hotel where he was examined by a physician. He is now at the Altoona hospital suffering from a fractured pelvic bone. Mr. Wriglesworth underwent three X-ray examinations at the Altoona hospital, the xray picture showing a spine injury with severe bruises, a slight paralysis developing. Later pictures showed a fracture of several vertebra and an operation was performed to relieve the spine pressure. The wife arrived at the bedside on Tuesday morning. She is remaining at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Clark of 316 Fifth avenue. Mr. Wriglesworth was a native of Grampian, being born Dec. 16, 1881, the son of Joseph and Myrtle Wriglesworth.
