M. shabodeho@aol.com April 25, 2010, 9:28 pm Clearfield Weekly Progress, The February 26, 1915 Hurley Murder Article Clearfield Weekly Progress, The 2/26/1915 Horribly mangled and torn, the head completely severed from the rest of the body the remains of a man, who was identified by fellow workmen as Hurley, was found on the Pennsylvania railroad track one mile below the Graham station early this morning. The discovery was made by other miners on their way to work. The body had been run over by the early train but from all appearances the man had been murdered and thrown upon the track. Hurley, who was about fifty years old, lived alone in a shanty only several yards from the track, and the men who found him say that they believe his death was caused by murder and that the murderer had used this method of covering up his work. LATER—Hurley was found to have been murdered, and the authorities are looking for a man to answer to this description: Italian—Height 5 ft. lOin., weighs about 170 Ibs., age 21; brown eyes, black bushy hair, dark blue suit, faded brown tie, dark sweater, dark complexion, white even teeth, high laced dark tan shoes, talks broken English.
