Sumner Hoyt Celebrates Birthday At Family Dinner Mrs. J. Sumner Hoyt celebrated her 85th birthday at a dinner party at her home in Hyde Sunday, February 27. Despite her advanced years, Mrs. Hoyt enjoys excellent health and assumes all responsibilities in her home. She spends her spare time sewing, baking, and making rugs. She also takes particular pride in her skill as an excellent checker and domino player. At her dinner party Sunday, Mrs. Hoyt received many lovely gifts including a three-tire birthday cake lighted by 85 candles. The children and grandchildren of Mrs. Hoyt who attended the dinner party included: Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Knight, Akron, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hoyt, Mr. and Mrs. James Hoyt and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoyt all of Clearfield; Mrs. Josephine Darr, Ridgewood, N.J.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dobson, Philipsburg; William Lanich and daughter, Viola, of Punxsutawney and Penfield; Mr. and Mrs. George Darr and daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild, of Warren; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Darr, and children, Billy, Lois, and Mary Lou, of Burnside; Dr. and Mrs. L. J. Lanich, of Kingwood, W. Va.; Warren W. Maule, Ridgewood, N.J. Two daughters, Mrs. N. J. Mecklem, of Crescent City, Fla,; and Mrs. Thomas Campbell, of Waco, Texas, were unable to be present but they sent messages of congratulations to their mother. --------------------------------- CLEARFIELD PROGRESS, Clearfield, PA, March 16, 1951 Mrs. James S. Hoyt Marks 87th Birthday The members of the Hoyt Family gathered at the farm of Mrs. James S. Hoyt near here Sunday, March 11, to help Mrs. Hoyt celebrate her 87th birthday. The out-of-town members attending were: (see paper for list of names) ------------------------------------ THE PROGRESS, Clearfield, PA, January 4, 1960 MRS. ANNIE E. HOYT Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Hoyt, 95, of Clearfield R. D., died in the Clearfield Hospital Sunday night after a brief illness. She was the widow of James Sumner Hoyt. Born March 9, 1864, at Osceola Mills, she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Charlotte Kephart. Mrs. Hoyt, one of 10 children, was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are these eight children: Mrs. Charlotte Lanich, Kingwood, W. Va.; Mrs. Josephine Darr, Glen Rock, N.Y.; Mrs. Cora Campbell, Valley Mills, Tex.; Mrs. Esther Darr, Warren; Mrs. Laura Knight, Akron, Ohio; Blaine, Grant and Paul, all of Clearfield; 20 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four children. Funeral services will be held from the Nicholson Funeral Home, Clearfield, Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. David L. Wilson and Dr. A. H. Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Centre Cemetery at Hyde. Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday until time of services.
