Thirty years ago her husband went away, and long after, believing herself to be a widow, she applied for a pension through W.W. Hoover, but was advised that David C. Hopkins was receiving a pension at Stanton, Michigan. In February, 1902, he died at Stanton, Michigan. A special examiner visited here and in Stanton, and after a lot of trouble the Department was convinced that Mrs. Hopkins was the lawful widow of the dead soldier, although they had lived as strangers for so many years, and a check was issued for the arrears of pension due since Hopkins' death. She will receive $12 per month during the remainder of her life. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/ File size: 1.3 Kb
