His death was unexpected and a shock to his family. His wife went to his room in the morning to call him as was her usual custom and found that he had passed away. The family physician was summoned and pronounced his death due to a heart attack. Mr. Irwin had a keen mind and was a great leader, being well informed in many subjects. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Naomi Cupler Irwin, and the following children; Mrs. Sannie McGonigal, Ruth, Mrs. Susan Flanagan, Florence, Jack, Martha, Charles and James, all of Clearfield, and Robert of San Francisco, Calif., One son William, and a daughter, Mary are deceased. One sister, Miss Mary Irwin of South Second Street, and eleven grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held at his home Friday at 4 p.m., conducted by Rev. E.L. Eslinger of the M.E. Church, Interment in the Hillcrest Cemetery. (Next day note says funeral was held Tuesday, April 20, 1932) Additional Comments: The son William Fisher Irwin III, was killed in a railroad accident in the rail yard of the NYC in Clearfield, PA. He was 29 years old and left a wife and two young children. The wife was Clara Isabell Gifford Irwin and the children were William IV, and Bessie Naomi.
