The Grim Reaper cut down two well known Clearfield residents Sunday, visiting two homes unexpectedly. Both Frederick Johnson and Taylor Bowles had been residents of Clearfield all of their lives, and both were suddenly removed to another world. Frederick Johnson died this morning at 12:30 o'clock at his home, on the corner of Cherry and Second streets, aged 60 years, to the house where he had lived all of his life. He suffered a slight paralytic stroke on Friday and continued to get worse until 10 o'clock last evening, when he had another stroke. Frederick Johnson was the son of Isaac and Sarah Johnson. He received his education in the public schools of Clearfield. For 35 years, he was associated with his brother George in the hardware business on Market street. Two years ago, the deceased retired. He is survived by his mother, aged 93 years, two sisters, Eliza, who lives at home; and Sarah, now Mrs. Lisley, of Nebraska, and three brothers, George, of Clearfield; Charles, of Chehalis, Wash., and John, of Wichita, Kansas. Funeral arrangements will be made later. Mr. Johnson was a quiet man, who had many friends, to whom his death came as a great shock.
