KNARR DEAD Prominent Merchant and Exemplary Citizen of Troutville Passes Away. George L. Knarr, a prominent merchant and most highly respected exemplary citizen, died at his home in Troutville on Sunday, January 1st, 1811, of cancer of the intestines, aged 65 years. Mr. Knarr had been a sufferer for some years and a year ago or near that, underwent a critical operation which relieved him somewhat for a time but the dread insistent disease renewed its attack and finally claimed its victim. He leaves to mourn his death, two children, namely, Emma, married to J. E. Rishel and residing in West Virginia and George A. Knarr, rural mail carrier on Troutville Route from Sykes. Reuben M. Knarr, contractor and builder of the Third Ward, brother of the deceased, left yesterday for Troutville to be present at the funeral which was held from his late residence in Troutville at 10 o'clock this morning. Mr. Knarr was a leading man of the community and county in which he lived. He was public-spirited, generous-hearted to charities and will be greatly missed from every circle which knew him best.
