All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/clearfield/ ________________________________________________ http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/clearfield/obits/lawhead-mary-margaret.txt Clearfield Progress 11-28-1955 HYDE--Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Nicholson Funeral Home for Mrs. Mary Margaret Lawhead, 89, who died at her home at Hyde at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. H. Merle Saxman officiated and interment was in Centre Cemetery. Mrs. Lawhead was born July 4, 1866 at Curwensville. She is survived by five sons, Walter D., Thomas F., Robert H., Hugh, and Kenneth, all of Hyde; 16 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Annie Snoke, Clearfield. Additional Comments: Mary (Maggie) was the daughter of Thomas W. 1827-1875 & Mary Caldwell Fleming 1841-1918. Her father was postmaster at Curwensville when he suddenly died in 1875. Her mother was the daughter of Alexander Caldwell who had been sheriff of Clearfield County and his wife Margaret Hartshorne. Her brothers and sisters were: Leroy, Karl, Walter Guy, and Anna Jean. As a youngster she lived in downtown Curwensville across the street from the Methodist church. She married Nathan Orris Lawhead 1850-1940, the son of Robert Lawhead and Laura Hoyt. She was a member of Centre Methodist church and spent her married life on the old Robert Lawhead homestead south of Hyde. She was the mother of my father, Robert Harris (Pete) Lawhead.
