Raftsman Journal 1892
Nathan Lawhead, one of the early settlers of Lawrence Township, died on 
Saturday afternoon at his home near Montgomery school house, aged 75 years.  
The deceased had been ailing for some time and his death was not unexpected.  
He was a brother of Robert and Frank, deceased, and Zebulum, who is the only 
surviving brother.  He leaves a widow and seven adult children to mourn the 
loss of a kind husband and father.  He was a consistent member of the Centre 
M.E. church, and in the cemetery there he was laid to rest on Monday 
afternoon, his pastor, Rev. E.H.Witman, conducting the funeral service.  

Additional Comments:
Nathan was the son of Nathan and Catherine Ludwig(Ludwick) from Lancaster 
County, PA.  His wife was the former Asceneth Bailey 1830-1900.  They had a 
total of ten children who were: Hannah Julia 1852- ?1910, Lafayette 1854-1932, 
Harry Franklin 1855-, Elizabeth Ann 1857-, Lydia Evaline 1860-, Mary Ada 1861-
, Zachariah Bailey 1864-1939, Ella Blanche 1865-, Jennie E. 1869-1946, George 
Wallenstein 1872-1953.  
Nathan was one of my gr-uncles.
