Clearfield Progress, July 5, 1957
Roy Stone Lawhead, 91, of Clearfield R.D. died at the Clearfield Hospital 
Thursday, July 4, at 2 pm.  Mr. Lawhead was born Aug 22, 1865, in Lawrence 
Township.  
He is survived by the following children: Ray Lawhead, Los Angeles, Calif.; 
Mrs. Mabel Copenhaver, Clearfield RD.; Mrs Edna Zapp, Johnstown; Mrs. Lela 
White, Hyde; Mrs. Anna Muyer, West New York, NJ.; and Bernard Lawhead of 
California.  
His wife, four sons and a daughter preceded him in death.  Twenty-two 
grandchildren and two brothers, Lynn of Philadelphia and Fred of Dubois also 
survive.  
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8, from the Nicholson Funeral Home, 
Rev. Merle Saxman officiating.  Interment will be in the Centre Cemetery.  

Additional Comments:
Roy was the son of Milton S. and Hannah Elizabeth Young Lawhead.  He was named 
for the officer his father served under in the Civil War.  Roy's wife was 
Annie Sutter from Indiana County who died when her last child, Anna, was born 
in 1915.  His son Ralph is buried at sea off Okinawa where his ship was hit by 
a Kamikazie pilot, 25 May 1945, during WWII.
