She grew to young womanhood at her home and at the age of 16 was married to Thos. Warren Letts. They lived there for four years or more and then moved to Mount Union, Huntingdon Co., which was their residence until they came to Penfield in 1872. This place had been their home since until last spring they moved to Carrolltown, Pa., Mr. Letts having purchased the News of that place. Six children were born to the union. Chas. M., Arvilla, wife of Geo. Austin, Jessie, Chester, deceased, Arrilla and Edward. On Sept. 18, Mrs. Letts came to Penfield to visit friends. About a week afterward she was taken ill and typhoid fever developed proving fatal at 3 o'clock on Friday, Nov. 31st. (Type in article - Oct. 31st) Mrs. Letts was a kind hearted neighbor, never turned a needy or hungry one from her door. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a member of the Methodist church and a devout believer in Christianity. If one's faithful christian life is an assurance of future eternal happiness, no one is happier in eternity than Susan Letts. The funeral was held in the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon, Revs. L. M. Brady and O. Berlin in charge and Thos. B. Buoy director. The interment was in the Penfield cemetery. "A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled, The boon His love had given; And though the body moulders here, The soul is safe in Heaven." A.H.R.
