The Clearfield Progress, Dated: August 22, 1964
MORRISDALE -  Bessie Maines, 78, of Morrisdale R.D. died in the Philipsburg 
State General Hospital yesterday after a three-day illness.
     Born in Graham Township, Feb. 13, 1886, she was a daughter of Samuel and 
Margaret (Crowell) Maines.  A life-long resident of Graham and Cooper 
Townships, she had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Irene Houston 
of Morrisdale R.D. at the time of her death.
     In addition to Mrs. Houston, she is survived by two grandchildren, six 
great grandchiildren and one brother, Percy Coble of Kylertown.

     A son, Kenneth, preceded her in death.
     Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral 
Home at Grassflat with the Rev. Dale Fleming officiating.  Interment will be in 
Messiah Baptist Cemetery at Kylertown.  Friends may call at the funeral home 
from this evening until the time of services Sunday.

Additional Comments:
Bessie did stay with her daughter at the end when she could no longer take care 
of herself.  I remember her as being a loving,caring person who never got angry.
The end years of her life she was blind so she needed care. Her daughter A. 
Irene Houston did just that.
