M. shabodeho@aol.com May 19, 2010, 5:56 pm Clearfield Progress 3/5/1915 Harrison McHenry Clearfield Progress 3/5/1915 Well Known Jeweler and Civil War Veteran Victim of Pneumonia Harrison McHenry,of Grass Flat, died at the Clearfield hospital, yesterday afternoon at 2 from pneumonia, as briefly stated in the Progress yesterday, after being a patient there for three weeks. Funeral services will he held from the residence of Earl McHenry with mass at the St. Francis church tomorrow morning at 9.30 o'clock, and from there the funeral party will go to Frenchville and interment will be made in the Frenchville cemetery. Mr. McHenry was born in Ireland in 1847, and came to this country with his brother when he was 02 or 12,(the first digit is unreadable) years old. The brother is now living somewhere in the west, but as yet the family have been unable to locate him. The deceased joined the 97th regiment. Pennsylvania infantry, at Norristown at the age of 14. He served throughout the war with honor and credit to his country and was discharged with honor at the close of the struggle. Soon after the war he married Miss Jennie Beauseigneur, of LeContes Mills, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Beauseigneur. After his marriage, he moved to Penfield and lived there until his wife's death twenty years ago. While at Penfield, Mr. McHenry followed his trade of jeweler. After Mrs. McHenry's death, he moved his family to Grass Flat, opening a store there, which he managed until his death. The deceased was known all over the county as an honest, industrious business man and a devoted father. His wife died, leaving six children, the youngest only a year old, but he managed to keep his family together, training them to be good citizens like himself. All of his children survive him. Three of them, Edgar, Thomas and Mrs. Loeffler, reside at St. Mary's; Philip, at LeContes Mills; Gordon, at Brookville; and Earl, chief of police, of Clearfield borough.
