McQuown RIDGWAY - Andrew B. McQuown, a native of Mahffey and a former teacher in the Clearfield County Schools, died Sept. 15, at his home at 416 Smith Street, Ridgway. He was 61. Mr. McQuown was born Dec. 29, 1914, a son of Andrew and Martha F. Bellis McQuown of Mahaffey. He received his bachelor's degree from Indiana State College and his master's from the Pennsylvania State University. He taught in schools in Decatur Township, Clearfield County, at Mahaffey and in the Ridgway Area School from 1946, becoming guidance counselor in 1958 and continuing in that position until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Social Science Club of Ridgway, Phi Delta Kappa fraternity and a member of the Community Nurse Board. Mr McQuown is survived by his wife, Ethyl McLaughlin McQuown; one sister, Mrs. Wallace Whitmore of Richmond, Va.; and one brother, Aaron McQuown of Mahaffey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Marion Whaley McQuown. Funeral services were held Sept. 18 with the Rev. Merrit Edder, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church Officiating. Interment was in the Brookville cemetery.
