Miller, aged 91, veteran of the Civil War and prominent and highly respected resident of Coalport, died suddenly at his home on Monday, Feb. 16, of a heart attack. Mr. Miller was one of the pioneer residents of Coalport and had been active in the community affairs for the past forty-five years, serving as councilman, street commissioner and in a number of other elective and appointive offices. He served throughout the Civil war and was honorable discharged with the rank of sergeant at the close of the conflict. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elvira (Haines) Miller, with whom he celebrated his sixteenth wedding anniversary on Feb. 13, 1928: two sons and one daughter, Forest of Coalport, James of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. L. W. Losie of Elmira, N. Y.: one brother, Rev. M. H. Miller of Lancaster, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held last Thursday and interment made in the Coalport cemetery.
