Several other boys were fishing on the opposite side of the dam and many other persons were near, but no one knew the child was in the water till his hat was seen floating, then the mill was stopped, and a diligent search instituted which produced the lifeless body of the little boy in a short time. The dam is in sight of nearly every door about the place and the child's parents were but a short distance from where the drowning occurred. The remains of the child were buried on Tuesday at two o'clock.
