PHILLIPS, Janet H. - September 1976
	Mrs. Janet H. Phillips, 86, of Curwensville R.D. died in the Clearfield
Hospital yesterday at 12:45 p.m. Born in Bridge End, Scotland, Feb. 14, 1890, she
was a daughter of George and Margaret (Wardrop) Philips.
 	Mrs. Phillips was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Grampian
where she belonged to the WSCS and also taught a Sunday School class for a number of 
years.  In addition, she was a member of the Penn Grange of Grampian.
 	She is survived by three sons:  Henry of Grampian; Leonard of Corning, N.Y.;
and Hugh of Curwensville R.D.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Phillips of Grampian, a son 
George and one granddaughter.
	The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Russell H. Lininger Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Robert Patton officiating.  Interment will follow in Friends Cemetery
at Grampian.
	Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 2 p.m. until the hour of 
service on Thursday.

PHILLIPS, Henry - July 1997
	Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home
Inc., Curwensville, for Henry "Nick" Phillips, 86, a guest of Mt. Laurel Nursing 
and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield, and formerly of Grampian who died Tuesday,
July 8, 1997, at the nursing center.
	The Revs. Gust Maderia Jr. and Loye Startzell will co-officiate. Interment
will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian RD.
	Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m.
until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
	The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Grampian 
Community Park Memorial Fund or St. Paul's United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
	Born Aug. 26, 1910, in Osceola Mills, he was a son of Henry J. Phillips and
Janet H. (Philips) Phillips.
	Mr. Phillips was a clay and coal miner and had retired from the North 
American Refractories Co. in Curwensville after 20 years of service. He was a 
member of the CCC Camps, was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church
in Grampian, was a long-time member of the Grampian Community choir as well as
St. Paul's Church choir.
	Mr. Phillips was also a member of the Grampian-Penn-Bloom Vol. Fire Co.
	On Nov. 24, 1937, in Clearfield, he wed the former Kathryn Shubert who
survives.
        In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, George of 
Elmira Heights, N.Y, Mrs. William (Mary) Smeal of Clearfield, and Jean Phillips
of DuBois, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Hugh of
Stronach, Curwensville RD 2.
        He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Barbara Phillips;
and two brothers, Leonard and George Phillips.

PHILLIPS, Barbara A. - January 1960
	Miss Barbara Ann Phillips, 16, of Grampian, died in the Clearfield 
Hospital Sunday at 1:35 a.m.
        A daughter of Henry and Kathryn (Shubert) Phillips, she was born at 
Clearfield April 11, 1943.
	Miss Phillips, a junior at the Curwensville Joint High School, was a
member of the Grampian Methodist Church, the 4-H Club and the Future Homemakers 
of America.
	Surviving are her parents; one brother, George, Elmira, N.Y.; two sisters,
Mary and Jean, at home; and two grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Shubert of Glen Richey and
Mrs. Janet Phillips of Curwensville R.D.
	Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Lininger Funeral
Home, Curwensville. The Rev. John B. Bergstrom will officiate, assisted by the Rev.
Dewey L. Home.  Interment will follow in Friends Cemetery at Grampian.
	Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 p.m. today and until time of 
sevices Wednesday.

PHILLIPS, Leonard - January 1988
	Services for Leonard "Scotty" Phillips, 71, of 16 College Ave., Corning, 
N.Y., who died Saturday, Jan. 30, at Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital, were held 
Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. from the Haughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry 
Griffin officiating.  Interment followed in Hope Cemetery.
 	Born June 22, 1916, in Grampian, he was a son of Henry and Janet (Philips)
Phillips.  Mr. Phillips was educated in the Grampian School District and was a 
veteran of the U.S. Navy's Air Division, having served in World War II.
 	He lived in the Corning area for 47 years and was a machine operator for 
Weyerhaeuser Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1979.  He was a member of the Grampian 
United Methodist Church, the Big Flats American Legion Post, Gibson Volunteer Fire
Department and a past vice president of Local 1002, American Flint Glass Workers
Union.
 	He is survived by his wife, the former Kathleen J. Tobias, whom he wed 
June 16, 1940; two sons, Kenneth L. of Corning and Richard G. of Painted Post; one
daughter, Janet Gleason of Oneonta; six grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of 
Grampian and Hugh of Curwensville; and several nieces and nephews.

PHILLIPS, Kathleen J. - October 1998
 	Kathleen J. Phillips, 77, of 87 Hillview Ave., Corning, N.Y., died Tuesday, 
Oct., 27, 1998, at her home.
 	She was born March 8, 1921, in Madera, the daughter of James and Mae (Bloom)
Tobias.
 	She wed Leonard Phillips on June 16, 1940, who preceded her in death in 
January 1998.
 	Mrs. Phillips retired in 1987 following 27 years of service in the catering
department of Baron Steuben Hotel and the Corning Hotel Inn.  She was a member of 
the Corning-Painted Post Roman Catholic Community attending St. Patrick's Church.
	She is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. Phillips of Corning and Richard of
Painted Post; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Joseph of 
Jamestown, N.Y.; two sisters, Goldie Catino of Niagara Falls and Sylvia Shubert 
of Grampian; and several nieces and nephews.
	She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Marcellus, Homer,
Jimmy, Calvin, and Moran; one sister, Ella Mae; a daughter, Janet Gleason; and a 
grandson, Charles Gleason.
	Friends were received at the Hauchey Funeral Home, 216 E. First St., 
Corning, on Oct. 29. A prayer service was held at the funeral home Oct. 30, 
followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church at 10 a.m.  Prayers
of Committal and Interment took place at the Hope Cemetery, Corning.
	The family suggests memorial donations be sent to Southern Tier Hospice, 
244 W. Water St., Elmira, NY 14901; or St. Patrick's Church, 222 Dodge Ave., Corning,
NY 14830.
