Mrs. Adalaide Richards passed away at her home at 2:55 a m Friday morning 
October 21,1938 after an illness of two weeks.  Mrs. Richards was born July 
10, 1862. in Maryland a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Higgins.  She came to 
Houtzdale when she was four years of age.  She was entered in marriage March 
19, 1882 to William Thomas Richards who preceded her in death Dec. 21,1933.
To this union eleven children were born seven sons and four daughters.
Five children preceded their mother in death.  The six surviving are Mr. E. R. 
Richards, Ebensville, Pa; Mr. Charles W. Richards, Ginter, Pa; Mrs. Martin 
Dunlap, Tyrone; Mrs. Stuard Mayes, Lockhaven; Mrs. Clarence Washinger, 
Lewistown; Mr. Carl Richards Smith Mills, and also one brother and sister.  
Miss Jane Goose, Houtzdale and Mr. Elmer Higgins, Houtzdale.
Funeral services were conducted at the home on Sunday afternoon, October 23 
Rev F. William Lickfield pastor of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Philipsburg 
officiated.  Interment was in the I.O.O.F Cemetery at Brisbin.

E.R Richards is son Ellsworth Rawlings Richards, Mrs.Martin Dunlap is daughter 
Ruth;Mrs.Stuard Mayes is daughter Dorothy;Mrs Clarence Washinger is daughter 
Grace. Daughter Mae H.(Richards) Stanley preceeded her in death,1933. 
Adelaide's step-sister Jane Goose whose father was Abraham (Abe) Goose
