Richards HOUTZDALE- Charles W. Richards, 69, a retired miner who lived most of his life in the Houtzdale area, died in the Philipsburg State Hospital Sunday at 11:45 a.m. following a long illness. Mr. Richards was born at Ginter February 1, 1890, a son of William and Adelaide (Higgins) Richards. He was a member of the United Miner Workers of America and the Philipsburg B.P.O. Elks. Mr. Richards is survived by his wife, the former Anna Wagner; a sister Dorothy Mayes of Lock Haven; a brother Carl of Cleveland, Ohio. eleven nieces and six nephews. Three sisters and five brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Freeberg Funeral Home at Houtzdale with the Rev C.F. Lauer officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Brisbin. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. today until time of services.
