ROBERT DUNLAP COMMITTS SUICIDE ON HIS FARM, WAS A DOPE FIEND

Aged farmer, a CRIPPLE, deprived of the morphine he was accustomed to use, 
determines To Take His Own Life—Wife Absent From Home Robert Dunlap, a farmer
residing between (Kerrmoor and Gassom)(names of towns partially unreadable), 
this county, committed suicide last evening about 6 o'clock by shooting himself 
in the head.   Mr. Dunlap in said to have been addicted to the use of morphine, 
since the enforcement of the Harrison Act prohibiting the sale of this drug he 
has been unable to procure the usual supply. This fact undoubtedly worked havoc 
with his mind besides causing him physical suffering
and he determined to end his troubles by killing himself, His wife had been 
watching him, fearing that he would do something rash, but last evening she 
went to milk the cow, leaving him in the house.  After his wife had left the 
house, Dunlap procured the shotgun, placed the butt of the weapon on the floor, 
and with a ramrod pushed on the trigger, exploding the weapon, The entire 
contents of the gun entered his neck, blowing a terrible hole to his head. Mr. 
Dunlap, hearing the noise of the explosion, rushed to the house, only to find 
that her husband was dead, having been instantly killed.  Coroner Pollum, at 
DuBois was notified, but upon learning the facts, decided that an inquest wan 
unnecessary.  Dunlap was about 75 years of age, and was badly crippled by 
sickness which increased his despondency.
