G. EMERY SCHWARTZ (8/9/98)
G. Emery Schwartz, 96, a resident at the DuBois
Village and formerly of Punxsutawney, died Saturday at
DuBois Village.
Born in Grange on Sept. 7, 1901, he was a son of the
late George F. Schwartz and Amelia Schellar. He was
married to Mildred R. Burley on Aug. 10, 1927. She
preceded him in death on April 7, 1983.
He retired from Keystone National Bank after 40 years
of service. He was an area school director for 18
years and was instrumental in organizing the Punxsutawney
Area School District. He was a road supervisor
secretary for 57 years for McCalmont and Young townships. He
also served on the County Board of Assistance for nine
years.
He was a member of the Free and Accepted masons,
International Order of Odd Fellows, Benevolent and
Protective Order of the Elks and UCC. He was a member of the
First English Lutheran Church in Punxsutawney.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fulmer (Myrna)
Magnuson of Curwensville; nine grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Otto of Fremont,
Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, JoAnne
Shaffer and Vivian Winker; and a sister, Viola Ridge.
SCHWARTZ: G. Emery, a resident of the DuBois Village
and formerly of Punxsutawney, died Aug. 8, 1998.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the
Deeley Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service
will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
with the Rev. Bonnie Kinnenin officiating. Burial will
be in the Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney.
