     Peter Smith, an upright citizen of Chester Hill, this county, died 
recently of cancer of the throat, aged 60 years.  He had been tax collector of 
that borough for 16 years and was a man of wonderful strength of character.  
He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Masons and Knights of Malta.
