He had retired on Monday evening in his usual good health, but when called to breakfast by his daughter it was found that life had gone a few minutes before. James Stephenson, was well known to many people in this county, where he had lived since the year 1837. His mother, Mrs. Stephenson, married Lemuel Byers, of Burnside township, shortly after coming to this country, hence the children of that family were half brothers and sisters of the deceased. They were John, Joseph, David and Robert, the last named deceased. There were three daughters, half sisters of the deceased, married to Russell Rorabaugh, Joseph Hutton, and D.T. Mitchell, all of Burnside township. Additional Comments: James mother, Jane Acheson, was a niece of George Atchison of Cherrytree, Indiana County, PA. She married James William Stephenson in Elphin, Cavetown, Co. Roscommon, Ireland, 17 Feb. 1828. She and James William Stephenson, Sr. became the parents of James William Stephenson, the subject of this obituary, 21 Feb. 1830. She and her son James emigrated with other Stephensons and arrived in New York 29 May 1835 on the ship Glasgow. She married Lemuel Byers in 1838.
