All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/clearfield/ __________________________________________ Mrs. Alfaretta (Thompson) Strickland Mrs. Alfaretta (Thompson) Strickland, well-known and highly respected Curwensville citizen, who died August 13, after an illness of about six weeks, was born July 29, 1856, at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and had just passed her 82nd milestone at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Strickland, an employee of the Franklin Tanning Company, who died on May 23, 1926. She was a resident of Curwensville for the past fifty years, during which time she gained a large circle of close friends who greatly mourn her passing. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Fred of Cumberland, Maryland; Roy, of Bolivar, New York; George of Canton, Ohio; Walter of Renovo, and Zelotus, Guy, Mrs. Frank Traister, Sr., and Mrs. John Houpt, all of Curwensville. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 15, at the home of Mrs. John Haupt, where she died. Reverend L. Vance Green, pastor of the Curwensville M. E. Church, officiated.
