Tyler passed away she having numbered 86 years last June. Her husband, John Tyler, who died a number of years ago, was the son of David Tyler, a pioneer. When a young girl she came into the Bennett River valley. Intelligent, forceful in character and educated, as that era went, she met John Tyler and they were married. The one child, Charles, born of the union, survives her. Before her marriage she taught school and a prized memento of those days to her is a receipt which she as Miss Mary Bee, gave to David Tyler for fifteen dollars paid her in 1858 for teaching school one month in the summer of 1857 at Mill Run.
