M. shabodeho@aol.com April 25, 2011, 1:14 am Clearfield Progress 4/22/1915 MRS. H. C. THAYER'S FATHER DIES AT ADVANCED AGE Nathan B. Tyler died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. H. Clark Thayer, on Locust street, at 11:30 this morning. Mr. Tyler was born in Vienna, Trumbull county, Ohio, on July 14, 1828, and would therefore have been 87 years of age, if he had lived until next July. Mr. Tyler was a Mason. He followed the trade of gunsmith in his earlier life and invented several parts of breech mechanism of guns. At one time, he was the champion long distance rifle shot of thc United States. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. H. Clark Thayer, of Clearfield; Mrs. A. L. North, of Youngstown, O.; and Mrs. James Stevenson, of Des Moines, Iowa. The remains will be taken to Warren, Ohio, for burial, the funeral party leaving for that place tomorrow morning.
