TILLIE VERNE DIED FOLLOWING LONG ILLNESS Mrs. Tillie M. Verne, mother of Miss Elaine Verne who is employed as cashier at the Beadle and Co. Store died Saturday, May 1, 1948 in the DuBois Hospital where she had been a patient the past month as a diabetic patient. Mrs. Verne was a devoted mother, kind neighbor, respected by all who knew her. Tillie M. Verne was born in Shawmut, Pa., January 30, 1898 the daughter of Frank and...(unreadable). (Unreadable)..to this happy couple two children were born. Lorain passed on March 26, 1935 and the husband and father's death occurred September 5, 1939 leaving the mother and daughter. During the past year the mother has been critically ill at various times but would recover sufficiently to return home from the hospital. She was a cheerful patient and her one concern was for her daughter's future. Solemn High Mass was sung Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock in the St. Tobias Church by Father Paul E. Gooder with Father McCullough of DuBois and Father Phillip Herrmann of Brandy Camp serving as deacons. Interment was made in Kersey. She is also survived by one brother, Henry Luke, of Crenshaw. Out of town friends attending funeral were: Michael and Josephine LaBuono, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Albrica Carmosino, Mr. and Mrs. Dwiller Polocci, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Calvano, John Carmosino, Mrs. Antionett Fandy, Mr. James Capoziello, of Erie, Pa.
