Wagner Miles W. Wagner, a prominent resident of Luthersburg, and a native of Brookville, was almost instantly killed early Monday by a fall of roof-rock in the clay mine in Draucker's Woods known as Drauckers' No. 2, of the North American Refractories. Mr. Wagner, who was assistant foreman of the mine crew, was attending his duties at 7:20 a.m. when he was struck by a falling rock and knocked against a mine car in such a manner that his skull was fractured against the roll bar. Death was almost instantaneous. Mr. Wagner was 60 years of age last June 27. He was born in Brookville in 1881 and was the son of George and Lucy Vasbinder Wagner. He lived in the Luthersburg section for the past nineteen years, was a member of the Methodist church. The victim of the accident is survived by his wife, who was Arminta Seyler, four sons and a daughter, as follows: Leonard of Los Angeles; Frank of Grampian; James of Williamsport; Cecil of DuBois, and Leila Miles of Luthersburg. His aged mother, Mrs. Lucy Wagner, of Luthersburg, also survive. Three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Marshall and Misses Maude and Blanche Wagner, proceed him in death. The body was in Moore chapel in DuBois, where friends called between 2 and 4 and between 7 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday the casket was removed to the home for funeral service and burial in the Luthersburg cemetery. Additional Comments: The only children recorded on the 1910, 1920 and 1930 U.S. Census reports are Leonard and Leila. Based on information found on the Hillberg Family Tree on Ancestry.com, Frank, James and Cecil are Miles’ brothers and not his sons.
