THE PROGRESS, Clearfield, PA, May 24, 1960

MRS. CARRIE E. WITHEROW

Mrs. Carrie Elizabeth Witherow, 74, of 426 W. Pine St., Clearfield, 
died in the Clearfield Hospital Monday noon following an extended 
illness.

Mrs. Witherow was born in Pike Township Oct. 3, 1885, the daughter 
of the late George and Alda (Courtney) Smeal.  She was a member of 
the Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Witherow was married to the late William Witherow who preceded 
her in death in June 1956.

Surviving are these children:  Frank Witherow, Akron, Ohio; Wayne and 
William Witherow, both of Clearfield; Mrs. Herbert (Louise) Clark, Olean, 
N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and one 
sister:  Walter Smeal, Clearfield; Clair Smeal, Akron; Mrs. Stella 
Cunningham, Philadelphia.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four 
brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held from the Leavy Funeral Home, Clearfield, 
Thursday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. William Brown officiating.  Burial will 
be made in the Center Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight after 7 o'clock, Wednesday 
afternoon and evening and Thursday until the hour of service.
