H. Rembrandt Woolridge, 93, of Clearfield died quietly at home on Tuesday, 
October 3, 2006. 

Born on May 14, 1913 in Woodland, RD, he was the eldest of the five children 
of Myrtle (Dickson) Harold Dale Woolridge. 

He attended a one-room school in Bradford Township and later graduated from 
Clearfield High School Class of 1930 and the Pennsylvania State College in 
1934. 

On October 14, 1936 he married the former Mary Jane Lee at the Trinity United 
Methodist Church, Clearfield. 

He is survived by a daughter, Jane Lee Yare of Clearfield, a granddaughter, 
Courtney Casper Woolridge of Washington, DC, a daughter-in-law, Kim 
(Trojanowski) Woolridge and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Asbury W. Lee, III of State College and a 
sister-in-law, Anna Vaughn (Lee) Hinkle of Clearfield. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, a son George 
Ashley Woolridge formerly of Murrysville and an infant son. He was also 
preceded in death by siblings, Ashley E. Woolridge, Margaret L. Woolridge and 
John Richard Woolridge all formerly of Clearfield and Jane Logan formerly of 
Lock Haven. 

A businessman, he was founder and president of HR Woolridge, Co., a general 
insurance firm, from 1935 until he sold the business in 1968. In 1943, he 
assumed the managerial duties for Woolridge Coal Mining Company’s West 
Virginia operations in Nicholas County, WV. 
He was president of Moshannon Falls Mining in Clearfield and a director of 
Clearfield Bank and Trust Company from 1962 until 2001. 

He was an avid and accomplished athlete with interest ranging from varsity 
football and track in both high school and college to league golf play at the 
local country club where he supplied “the best damn golf team” at CCCC with 
knickers. 
He hunted for boar in Lichtenstein, caught trophy-sized fish in Lake Erie and 
had his picture on a television feature “Big Old Fish” on WTAJ-TV, Altoona. 
He traveled extensively. 

Some of his civic contributions and social memberships included 30 years of 
volunteering on the Shaw Public Library Board; serving for 9 years and as 
president of the Clearfield Area School Board; and maintaining the longest 
uninterrupted membership in the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club from 1929 
until the time of his death. 

Memorial services will be held in the chapel of the Trinity United Methodist 
Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Robert L. Rupp 
officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield. 

Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 12:30 -2:00 PM. 

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of one's 
choice. 

The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield is in charge of the 
arrangements.
